چکیده

We analyzed pattern formation and identified various morphologies in a system of particles interacting through a non-monotonic potential with a competing range interaction characterized by a repulsive core (r < rc) and an attractive tail (r > rc), using molecular-dynamics simulations. Depending on parameters, the interaction potential models the inter-particle interaction in various physical systems ranging from atoms, molecules and colloids to vortices in low κ type-II superconductors and in recently discovered ‘type-1.5’ superconductors. We constructed a ‘morphology diagram’ in the plane ‘critical radius rc–density n’ and proposed a new approach to characterizing the different types of patterns. Namely, we elaborated a set of quantitative criteria in order to identify the different pattern types, using the radial distribution function (RDF), the local density function and the occupation factor. Microscopic approach to the kinetics of pattern formation of charged molecules on surfaces.

A microscopic formalism based on computing many-particle densities is applied to the analysis of the diffusion-controlled kinetics of pattern formation in oppositely charged molecules on surfaces or adsorbed at interfaces with competing long-range Coulomb and short-range Lennard-Jones interactions. Particular attention is paid to the proper molecular treatment of energetic interactions driving ...

Bidimensional fluid system with competing interactions: spontaneous and induced pattern formation

In this paper we present a study of pattern formation in bidimensional systems with competing short-range attractive and long-range repulsive interactions. The interaction parameters are chosen in such a way to analyse two different situations: the spontaneous pattern formation due to the presence of strong competing interactions on different length scales and the pattern formation as a respons...

Pattern formation in systems with competing interactions

There is a growing interest, inspired by advances in technology, in the low temperature physics of thin films. These quasi-2D systems show a wide range of ordering effects including formation of striped states, reorientation transitions, bubble formation in strong magnetic fields, etc. The origins of these phenomena are, in many cases, traced to competition between short ranged exchange ferroma...

Thermodynamic investigation of the interaction between Mono-s-chloroTriazinyl MCT Reactive Dyes and cetylpyridinium chloride inaqueous solution

The interactions two synthetic triazinyl reactive dyes Mono-s-chloro Triazinyl reactive dyes DI and DII with the cationic surfactant N-hexadecyl pyridinium chloride CPC were studied using a conductometric method in 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45ºC. The equilibrium constants and other thermodynamic parameters for the ion pair formation were calculated on the basis of a theoretical model using the data ob...

Se p 20 02 Theory of domain patterns in systems with long - range interactions of Coulomb type

Abstract We develop a theory of the domain patterns in systems with competing short-range attractive interactions and long range repulsive Coulomb interactions. We take an energetic approach, in which patterns are considered as critical points of a mean-field free energy functional. Close to the microphase separation transition, this functional takes on a universal form, allowing to treat a num...
